When the Buffs run
If there’s one thing we learned about Mel Tucker’s Buffs last week, it’s that they want to run the ball — and then run it some more. CU rushed 40 times against CSU, racking up 243 yards for a 6.1-yards-per-carry average (Alex Fontenot had 125 yards and three TDs). While it might be folly to read too much into those numbers — the Rams run defense, after all, was one of the nation’s worst in 2018 — it’s a good indicator of the Buffs’ new offensive identity.
