As expected, the University of Colorado Board of Regents on Thursday approved the annual automatic one-year contract extension for men's basketball coach Tad Boyle.
Per terms of the revamped contract Boyle signed following the 2012-13 season, a one-year extension is invoked automatically if neither side — Boyle and his representatives, or the university — opt out by Dec. 31. Neither side did so by the end of 2017.
The terms of Boyle's contract have not changed and he still is making about $1.5 million per year in base salary and other benefits. His contract now runs through the 2022-23 season.
