Colorado's recruiting class is better than it looks, and Deion Sanders is lurking

Colorado has built some recent momentum on the recruiting trail, but it is still lagging behind as we approach August. At first glance, Colorado's 80th-ranked class, which sits 16th out of 16 schools in the Big 12, raises major red flags.

It's easy to point to the why. Deion Sanders has been notably absent from Boulder most of the summer as he recovers from a mysterious illness that has kept him on his ranch in Texas. He missed the summer official visits, and while he talked to plenty of recruits over the phone, Sanders' top recruiting quality is his ability to sell himself and his program to prospects in person.
