Colorado football's strong start against USC fades into another loss

BOULDER — It looked like a mortal blow to Colorado's hopes of upsetting Southern California on Friday night when quarterback Sefo Liufau went out with a sprained foot on the last play of the first quarter. He had looked as sharp as he has all season, and the Buffs were leading the heavily favored Trojans thanks to an efficient offense and an aroused defense.

But with Liufau watching the rest of the game on crutches with a sprained left foot suffered on a sack, the Buffs played USC tough for three quarters before falling 27-24 at Folsom Field.
