EUGENE — The University of Colorado track and field alumni Emma Coburn and Gabby Scott closed out the 2022 World Athletics Championships Wednesday evening highlighted by a top-10 finish in the women's steeplechase.
Coburn, the 10-time USA National Champion, finished eighth in a gutsy do-or-die race as she stayed with the blistering championship record pace that was set by Norah Jeruto of Kazakhstan. Coburn jumped to the front of the pack from the gun, staying in fourth throughout the race. She matched move-by-move through the first 2,000 meters until the pace became too much and she fell from fifth to eighth in the final two laps, finishing in 9:16.
