Buffs TE Coach Brewster Wants True 'Three-Down Tight End'

BOULDER — Over the last 25 years, there may be no position in football that has undergone a bigger transformation than tight end.

Once a position that was utilized mainly as an extra blocker in pass protection and the run game, tight ends have become bigger, stronger versions of wide receivers — but they must still have the physical ability to be a force as blockers.

In short, they are required to be one of the most versatile players on the field.

New Colorado tight ends coach Tim Brewster wants to build that versatility into the Buffaloes' attack, and he's looking for someone who can assume all those roles on an every-down basis.
