Antonio Alfano: Mel Tucker, CU Buffs have “something special going on”

Boulder is 1,300 miles from Tuscaloosa and 1,800 miles from Colonia, N.J. But for Antonio Alfano, CU felt just like home.

“I’m not afraid of a rebuild,” Alfano, the CU Buffs’ defensive end transfer from Alabama and the program’s first 5-star import since Darrell Scott in 2008, told The Denver Post in a phone interview.

“(Coach Mel Tucker was) like, ‘Look, we’re building right now, and we need guys like you to come and help recruit.’ He keeps it honest.”

The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Alfano, the No. 1 defensive end recruit in the country for the Class of 2019, according to 247Sports.
