TRUCKEE, Calif. — University of Colorado golf alumnus Steve Ivan put on an impressive rally to win his opening match here Monday in the 68th Annual U.S. Senior Amateur.
Ivan, seeded 51st, won his first match against No. 14 seed Brad Wayment on the 19th hole after being down by two through 16 holes on the 7,251-yard, par-72 Martis Camp Club course. He started his rally on the par-3, 204-yard 17th hole by making par while Wayment bogeyed, and then tied things up in the same fashion, parring the par-4, 468-yard 18th hole with Wayment scoring another bogey.
