After gaining respect despite a loss, Colorado turns attention to USC

BOULDER — It's not unusual for opposing coaches to compliment their counterparts after a game, but Stanford coach David Shaw went out of his way to be more than gracious Saturday after his team beat Colorado 42-10.

It may ring hollow to CU fans tired of losing Pac-12 games, but there's a difference between offering obligatory niceties and expressing true respect, and Shaw did the latter. Perhaps he appreciates the enormity of the rebuilding project MacIntyre inherited better than some of CU's more vocal fans.

"They have a tough offense to stop, with a running quarterback, a really tough (running) back and a receiver that makes all kinds of plays," Shaw said.
