WESTMINSTER — The Avalanche's top prospects were just that in Saturday's rookie showcase exhibition with the San Jose Sharks. Chris Bigras, A.J. Greer, J.T. Compher and Nikita Zadorov scored goals and Mikko Rantanen made a great play to set up Greer's tally at the Ice Centre at the Promenade.
Those five players and goalie Spencer Martin, who stopped all 12 shots he faced in the 4-1 victory before giving way to Chase Marchand, are generally thought of as Colorado's premier youngsters on the 25-man showcase roster,
Rantanen, the Avs' first round draft pick (10th overall) in 2015, left the game late in the third period, favoring his right leg.
