A look at key events in the career of Patrick Roy after he retired as a player:

June 2009 — Before Tony Granato is fired as Avalanche head coach, club president Pierre Lacroix offers Patrick Roy the job, in addition to the general manager position. Roy declines. Greg Sherman becomes GM and Joe Sacco the head coach.

April 2013 — Roy’s junior team, the Quebec Remparts, finishes the season 42-21 in what would be his eighth year with the team. Roy was 348-196 with the Remparts.

May 23, 2013 — Roy is named Avalanche coach, replacing Sacco.
