Newly acquired forward Shawn Matthias arrived in Denver at about 1 a.m. and a few hours later went through an optional morning skate with the Avalanche, skating on a line with Carl Soderberg and Blake Comeau.
That's what Patrick Roy had outlined Tuesday, even before Matthias' visa issues were cleared up in time for the Ontario native to head from Toronto to Denver and be available for Wednesday night's game against the San Jose Sharks at the Pepsi Center.
"I finally got it yesterday at 4 o'clock and was on a plane at 8:40," Matthias said of his visa.
