Rookie J.T. Compher on the verge of returning to the Avs’ lineup

The red-hot Avalanche will likely get one of its top young forwards back in the lineup Thursday against the San Jose Sharks. Rookie J.T. Compher, who has missed six games with an undisclosed upper-body injury, went through a full practice Tuesday and is excited to rejoin a team on a seven-game winning streak.

“We’re getting over it here,” Compher said of his injury. “It was nice to get a full contact practice in today.”

Compher, 22, has missed extensive time because of injury along with forward Sven Andrighetto (five games), defenseman Tyson Barrie (eight) and goalie Semyon Varlamov (4).
