Philipp Grubauer and Sheldon Dries move on from the Avalanche

Only a few hours into the NHL free agency period and the Colorado Avalanche find themselves scrambling to find a new starting goalie as Philipp Grubauer has a greed to a new six year contract with the Seattle Kraken. The deal will apparently carry with it a $5.9m AAV.

With Grubauer off the market, Sakic will now have to shift his plans in net. Other options like Petr Mrazek, Freddie Andersen, Martin Jones and Brayden Holtby have already found homes so the market is shrinking.

Some free agents still out there are Linus Ullmark and Tuukka Rask, with a few trade candidates looming as well.
