Peter McNab, longtime Avalanche broadcaster and former DU star, dies at 70: “Father of Colorado hockey”

Peter McNab carried a notebook. He scribbled his observations during Avalanche games while providing color commentary for the live broadcast. He researched his own statistics and jotted them in the notebook before games. Altitude TV has people who find stats to prep the on-air talent. But McNab kept his findings a secret.

“It was sort of his bible,” said Nuggets broadcaster Vic Lombardi, who sometimes anchors Avalanche coverage from the studio. “We all got information: ‘Here’s what to look for tonight.
