Saying he didn't believe he had enough input in player personnel decisions, Patrick Roy Thursday announced he was resigning as head coach and vice president of hockey operations for the Avalanche.
The announcement came in a news release from a Quebec City public relations agency. The majority of the release was a statement from Roy, and he began by noting that for three years he had "carried out my duties … with energy, passion and determination."
He added: "I have thought long and hard over the course of the summer about how I might improve this team to give it the depth it needs and bring it to a higher level.
