NHL advises teams to prepare for possible restart, according to report

The NHL sent a memo to teams Wednesday calling for players to consider returning to their home cities and prepare for some sort of training camp during the “mid-to-later portion of May,” according to TSN Sports’ Frank Seravalli.

When asked to confirm the memo, an Avalanche spokesman said there was “nothing definite as of yet.”

According to Seravalli, the league “may be able — provided we continue to trend favorably” to move to Phase 2 of a re-opening plan, which it previously said was the return for players and staff to team headquarters.

“Until then, players and teams have been instructed to continue with the Phase 1 recommendations — which is to say, keep doing what you’ve been doing since the NHL hit pause on March 12,” Seravalli wrote.
