New Colorado Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer stops 42 in win

RALEIGH, N.C. - Place a big check mark next to a vote of confidence for Colorado goalie Philipp Grubauer.

Coach Jared Bednar, trying to get Grubauer more comfortable in net with his new team, gave the former Washington Capitals goalie a second straight start and the move paid off with a stellar effort in net as Grubauer stopped 42 shots in a 3-1 Avalanche victory over the Carolina Hurricanes on Saturday.

"Without the way he played we wouldn't have won this hockey game," Gabriel Landeskog said of his goalie. "He was outstanding ... and honestly one of the better goalie performances I've seen in a long time.
