Nathan MacKinnon has signed a seven-year contract with the Colorado Avalanche through the 2022-23 season.
The deal is worth $44.1 million, according to an Avs source, which means the 20-year-old forward will earn $6.3 million annually.
In his third season in Colorado, MacKinnon finished third on the Avs in scoring last year with 52 points (21 goals, 31 assists) in 72 games.
“He is going to be a key part of our team for many years to come,” Joe Sakic, Avs GM, said in a news release. “It was important to secure his rights moving forward.
