Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon was named the NHL’s No. 1 star of the week Monday and Colorado winger Sven Andrighetto completed a full practice and is days away from a long-awaited return.
MacKinnon, who leads the NHL in points-per-game (1.35), tied for first in the league last week in goals (five) and was first in assists (six) and points (11) in leading the Avalanche to a 3-0-1 homestand. The 22-year-old had his second career five-point game (two goals, three assists) on Friday in a 7-1 win over Minnesota and also had a multiple-point game (two goals, assist) in last Monday’s 3-1 triumph over Vancouver.
