Avalanche defenseman Zach Redmond was added to the U.S. World Championship roster, bringing Colorado’s representation to five for the tournament that kicks off May 1 in the Czech Republic.
Redmond’s story is remarkable. He suffered a stroke as a youth and severed his femoral artery at a morning skate with the Winnipeg Jets. Both times, doctors told him there was a 50/50 chance he could resume his hockey career. Nice to see him don the Red, White and Blue — his first opportunity with USA Hockey.
USA’s U18 World Championship team got five points from University of Denver recruit Auston Matthews — widely considered the No.
