Mikko Rantanen, 18, makes Avalanche opening-night roster

The Colorado Avalanche established its opening-night roster Tuesday by reassigning forward Dennis Everberg to the minors and placing forward Jesse Winchester on injured reserve.

NHL veteran forward Jack Skille, 28, was signed off his professional tryout (PTO) contract and rookie forward Mikko Rantanen, who was the 10th overall pick in the June draft, is scheduled to make his NHL debut at age 18.

Rantanen practiced on a line with center Carl Soderberg and Borna Rendulic — in what figures to be Colorado's third line in Thursday's opener against the Minnesota Wild at the Pepsi Center. Skille figures to begin on the fourth line with center John Mitchell and Cody McLeod.
