Martinsen Scores First Goal, Joins Select Company

WASHINGTON—It wasn't the prettiest or most significant goal Colorado Avalanche forward Andreas Martinsen has ever scored in a game, but it will be one that he will surely remember.

Martinsen entered the fraternity of NHLers to find the back of the net on Thursday night as he recorded his first career tally in the third period of a 7-3 loss to the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Center. The left wing also joined an even more select group, becoming just the fifth Norwegian-born player to score in the top tier of the sport.

"It is kind of mixed feelings," Martinsen said.
