Kiszla: Cody McLeod beating Avs is one more big, red embarrassment for NHL’s worst team

Well, there’s one more stinking trade by Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic that’s not turning out so well.

The fight went out of the Avalanche long before Cody McLeod left the team.

But in his first game since being traded from an NHL franchise McLeod gave everything he had in his heart, soul and fists for nearly 10 years, big No. 55 laced up the skates for Nashville and rubbed the Avs’ face in their misery Saturday afternoon during a 3-2 victory by the Predators.

“It’s been kind of a whirlwind,” said McLeod, who transferred overnight from a Colorado squad dealing with the hopelessness of a 13-27-1 record to the Predators, energized by being in the thick of the playoff race.
