Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic said he soon plans to go golfing with Patrick Roy, who resigned as Colorado’s head coach Thursday. In a conference call about five hours after Roy announced he was resigning in a written statement through a public relations agency, Sakic said he and Roy harbor no ill feelings toward each other.
“We both respect each other really well. We’ve always been friends and we’ll always continue to be friends,” Sakic said. “He was contemplating this for a few weeks. It was tough on him, stressful and I know right now he’s very comfortable with his decision and probably relieved that it’s over for him.
