Matt Duchene was the last off the ice at Avalanche practice Friday. He lingered beyond the typical post-workout messing around for a lengthy chat with assistant coach Tim Army, Duchene’s confidant under three different head coaches.
Yet while Duchene always has been a rink rat, I’ve gotten the impression the past couple of weeks that he has been taking care to avoid being at his stall during open media periods. After practices and morning skates, the locker room is open roughly until reporters agree they’ve gotten what they need, and then the pack heads to a media room for coach Jared Bednar‘s availabilities.
