If and when the NHL draft takes place next month, Fort Collins native and University of Denver commit Aidan Thompson is in position to hear his name called.
A former youth star with the Rocky Mountain Roughriders and Colorado Thunderbirds, Thompson is ranked 124th by Central Scouting among North American skaters. He said he’s interviewed with “most” NHL teams over the phone.
“I’m excited for the draft. Hopefully, it goes well. But you never know what could happen,” he said Wednesday.
The NHL last week outlined what could be a July 5 virtual draft, with the order based on points percentage for the teams not in position to be included in the preceding draft lottery.
