Colorado-groomed Troy Terry carries Team USA into world junior gold medal game

University of Denver sophomore Troy Terry from Highlands Ranch turned into an American hero Wednesday in Montreal, going 3-for-3 in a seven-round shootout to lead Team USA to a 4-3 victory over Russian in the semifinals of the World Junior Championship.

Terry scored on different moves in the fourth, sixth and seventh rounds, clinching victory in the latter. He tied it 1-1 in the fourth with a low forehand wrist shot. And after teammate Jeremy Bracco scored in the fifth round to force sudden-death rounds, Terry faked goalie Ilya Samsonov with another wrister and slid the puck through his legs with his forehand.
