The Colorado Avalanche made a safe, smart pick with their fourth round selection on Wednesday, taking undersized center Colby Ambrosio of the USHL’s Tri-City Storm with the 118th overall selection.
Ambrosio, a native of Welland, Ontario, is committed to play at Boston College next season — where he’ll join Colorado’s ever-growing list of prospects who opted for the collegiate route in their development paths. The 18-year-old forward, who stands at just 5’9 and 170 lbs right now, will look to round out a game that already highlights an impressive amount of speed and skill in the offensive zone while improving his play in his own end and away from the puck.
