Colorado Avalanche net rare home win

DENVER — This isn't an upset: Joe Sakic isn't pleased. Not at all.

Yet before the Avalanche beat the New York Islanders 2-1 on Nathan MacKinnon's 4-on-3 power play goal with 16.1 seconds left in overtime Friday at the Pepsi Center and snapped losing streaks of 10 at home and five overall, Colorado's general manager said he hasn't lost hope, at least not for the franchise's future — and was emphatic that he plans to be a part of it.

With the Avalanche holding down the worst record in the NHL going into the night, Sakic said he will continue to explore possible trades as the March 1 trading deadline approaches, but with a caveat.
