After two months of little action, the Colorado Avalanche are gearing up for the final two big dates before the true off-season — the NHL Draft on June 24 and 25, and Free Agency on July 1.
Yesterday Denver Post writer Mike Chambers spoke with GM Joe Sakic. Among the conversation topics, Chambers asked him about pending restricted free agents. Naturally, the big names were Tyson Barrie — who’s been the center of trade speculation — and Nathan MacKinnon.
To summarize, Sakic is going to meet with Barrie’s representatives at the 2016 NHL draft. If they can’t come to an agreement, hopefully for a long-term deal, the two sides will go to salary arbitration.
