Colorado Avalanche Dreaming about Fourth Overall Pick

The Colorado Avalanche are highly unlikely to garner the Ottawa Senators’ first-round draft pick. Ottawa owes Colorado either this year’s or next year’s draft pick to complete the Matt Duchene trade. They were allowed to pass on this year only because it’s a top-10 pick.

But that means they can’t pass at all next year. Whatever pick they get, it goes to the Avalanche.

So, while it’s highly unlikely the Senators will pass the fourth-overall pick to Colorado, it’s not possible. Especially if they actually plan on trading Erik Karlsson. And it’s rumored the franchise-maker has asked for the trade.
