Colorado Avalanche agree to terms on a new contract with Mikko Rantanen

The Colorado Avalanche have agreed to terms with restricted free agent all star Mikko Rantanen. The deal is for 6-years and is worth $55.5m. That’s an annual average cap his of $9.25m.

As expected, the deal carries with it no signing bonus money but is heavily front loaded with Rantanen receiving $24m in the first two seasons.

In only his third season in the NHL, Rantanen became one of the best wingers in the game last year finishing with 31 goals and 87 points in only 74 games.
