The Colorado Avalanche have one preseason game remaining, their annual Frozen Fury match against the Los Angeles Kings in Las Vegas. After five games, the Avalanche have gone 1-3-1.
In five games we’ve learned a lot. It’s been tough losing three games, and then a fourth in the shootout. It’s convenient to say, “These games don’t count. Thursday’s opening night game against the Minnesota Wild is the first game that counts.”
However, these preseason games serve as a momentum going into the regular season. They can give players confidence — or get into their heads. We saw what happened last season, and you can’t say the slow start didn’t begin in the Colorado Avalanche’s dismal 1-5-2 preseason.
