ST. PAUL, Minn. – In a lesser role and more obscure fashion Tuesday, Avalanche rookie forward Logan O’Connor joined teammate Cale Makar as bright young sons of Calgary, Alberta.
Makar, 21, and O’Connor, 23, both grew up Calgary Flames fans and had family and friends watch them help the Avs defeat the Flames 3-2 at the Scotiabank Saddledome. Makar, the star rookie defenseman, had an assist and was plus-2 in 19:01 of ice time. O’Connor, making his NHL season debut after his call-up from the American Hockey League on Monday, logged a team-low 7:45 as a fourth-line winger.
