Bruins’ Charlie McAvoy shares perspective on play that injured Artturi Lehkonen in Boston, which Avalanche coach Bednar said was dirty

Two opposing perspectives of a consequential moment in Boston emerged as the Avalanche and Bruins prepared for a rematch.

In the first period of Colorado’s 5-1 loss Saturday night at TD Garden, Boston’s Charlie McAvoy dragged Artturi Lehkonen down to the ice during a skirmish in the Bruins’ crease as the play was whistled dead.

Lehkonen was reaching over the top of Boston goaltender Linus Ullmark, swiping at a potentially loose puck in front of the net. McAvoy corralled Lehkonen from behind and threw him to the ice, landing on top of him. Lehkonen exited the game and has been designated as day-to-day with an upper-body injury.
