While Mikko Rantanen stole most of the attention Tuesday night scoring his first career hat trick, newcomer Mark Barberio quietly helped bring down his former team, the Montreal Canadiens, just five days after they had put him on waivers.
“I would be lying if I said it didn’t feel good,” Barberio said following the 4-0 victory. “It was a good game. Obviously, it’s great to get a goal first few shifts like that and if you don’t give up any goals you’re going to win a lot of hockey games. It was a good effort.”
Barberio tallied an assist on each of the final two Rantanen goals bringing his total to 6 points (0 goals, 6 assists) on the season.
