DENVER — In consecutive drafts, the Avalanche believes it selected a sure-fire future NHL player with the No. 10 pick. Colorado expects Mikko Rantanen (2015 draft) and Tyson Jost (2016) to become top-six forwards and have a chance for stardom.
But because of where they come from, Rantanen, 19, is considerably ahead of the development curve than the 18-year-old Jost. That's because Rantanen, who played professionally in Finland before he was drafted, will attend Colorado's rookie/training camp for the second year in a row this month while Jost is preparing for his freshman season at the University of North Dakota.
