As the Colorado Avalanche took the ice Sunday at the University of Denver in their annual intrasquad scrimmage, they had the opportunity to implement some of the newer concepts brought by coach Jared Bednar in a game-like situation.
The emphasis for the Avs in the first two days of training camp and Sunday’s Burgundy and White Game has been familiarizing themselves with the new structure and then turning it all into habit. At this point in time, the concepts are still new enough that the players find themselves overthinking in order to not make mistakes and haven’t quite reached the point of habit just yet.
