Avalanche re-sign Tyson Jost to two-year, $4 million contract

The Avalanche re-signed its last key free agent Friday, agreeing to a two-year, $4 million contract with forward Tyson Jost.

Jost, 23, will make $1.75 million next season and $2.25 million in 2022-23, per a league source. He was a restricted free agent.

Jost was the Avalanche’s first-round selection in the 2016 draft (10th overall). He hasn’t become the scorer the club envisioned but he’s turned into a solid two-way player and primary penalty killer.

Jost will become a restricted free agent again in 2023 if he doesn’t get an extension before that.

His signing puts the Avs approximately $3 million under the $81.
