VANCOUVER, British Columbia — It used to be, before realignment, the Avalanche would visit Vancouver regularly (the franchise's all-time wins against Vancouver, 72, are their second-most against any opponent but Edmonton). But Monday night was the only trip by Colorado to Rogers Arena this season.

Defenseman Tyson Barrie, riding a four-game points streak (six assists) grew up an hour-and-a- half ferry ride from Vancouver in Victoria, the provincial capital, and played his junior hockey a four-hour drive away in Kelowna in British Columbia.

Defenseman Patrick Wiercioch was born in Burnaby, the city adjacent to Vancouver that gave Joe Sakic his nickname.
