Avalanche great Adam Foote named head coach of the Kelowna Rockets

Colorado Avalanche legend Adam Foote, a former Denver-area youth hockey coach and recent special assistant to a Denver-based NHL player agency, has been named head coach of major-junior’s Kelowna Rockets of the Western Hockey League.

Foote’s two sons, Cal and Nolan, played together with the Rockets the last two seasons. Nolan, 17, remains with the team, while Cal, 19, is a first-year professional with the Tampa Bay Lightning’s organization.

Adam Foote, a two-time Stanley Cup champion defenseman with the Avs, was a part-time defensive assistant coach with the team from 2011 to 2017. He also coached his sons with the Triple-A Colorado Thunderbirds.
