Avalanche coach Jared Bednar Friday said that goaltender Semyon Varlamov, who hasn’t been available since a Dec. 22 loss to Toronto because of groin muscle issues, is making progress toward a return.
“We expect him back on the ice (with the team) in the next couple of days,” Bednar said after practice at Family Sports Center. “He skated a little bit yeterday on his own, and today he’s doing something different. We’re hoping in the next couple of days, he’ll be back out there. He’s feeling better, though.”
Calvin Pickard is expected to get his fourth consecutive start in the net against the New York Rangers in a rare 6 p.
