Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer out at least “next couple of games” with lower body injury

The Avalanche injury bug keeps biting.

Goalie Philipp Grubauer suffered a lower-body injury, is considered to day-to-day for return, and is expected to miss at least the “next couple of games,” coach Jared Bednar told reporters after morning skate Thursday.

Backup Pavel Francouz is expected to replace Grubauer in net starting Thursday night against the Predators. Colorado also recalled goalie Adam Werner from the AHL-affiliate Eagles.

Grubauer posted a 6-3-2 record in 11 games played this season. His injury occurred in the Avs’ 4-1 loss Friday at Dallas, although Bednar added that “something has been bugging (Grubauer) for a bit.
