Avalanche goalie Philipp Grubauer back from five-game injury absence

CALGARY, Alberta — The injury-riddled Avalanche will have a big piece to its puzzle back in the lineup Tuesday against the Calgary Flames at the Scotiabank Saddledome.

Franchise goalie Philipp Grubauer, who has missed the last five games with a lower-body injury, will play for the first time since sustaining the injury Nov. 5 at Dallas.

“A lot of guys are starting to come back and it’s going to be awesome to see,” Grubauer said after the morning skate.

Colorado is still without key forwards Mikko Rantanen, Gabe Landeskog, Colin Wilson, Tyson Jost and Matt Calvert, plus possibly backup goalie Pavel Francouz.
