SEDALIA — Avalanche general manager Joe Sakic said contract negotiations with right winger Mikko Rantanen will pick up in the coming weeks and he doesn’t expect the 2019 NHL All-Star will miss any portion of next month’s training camp.
“We want him here for training camp. No one needs the distraction, so hopefully we’re going to be in contact here shortly and get something done,” Sakic said Wednesday at Sanctuary Golf Course, host of his 22nd annual celebrity golf tournament to benefit the Food Bank of the Rockies. “We kind of have a pretty good idea where he should be slotted.
