PITTSBURGH — Jonathan Bernier will start in goal against the Pittsburgh Penguins on Monday and the Avalanche will again go with an 11-forward, seven-defenseman lineup for the third consecutive game.
First-year Avs winger Nail Yakupov, the first pick of the 2012 draft, by Edmonton, will be scratched for the third consecutive game, but this time because of illness. He was the only player to not participate in Monday’s morning skate at PPG Paints Arena.
Defenseman Erik Johnson, who left late in the third period of Saturday’s 7-3 win at Florida after blocking a shot, is at full-strength.
