Avalanche are self-critical despite bad bounces in loss to Calgary

The Colorado Avalanche lost their ninth consecutive home game Tuesday night against the Calgary Flames due to what many would attribute to bad luck, but the players simply felt outplayed and dissatisfied with their effort.

“I’m pretty speechless with that game. It’s tough,” goaltender Calvin Pickard said following the game. “I felt good, even after the second -four goals after the second- I felt pretty good. It’s a painful result for sure.”

Several Flames goals were scored after bouncing off of an Avalanche player, but the Avs refuse to point to those bounces as the sole reason for the loss.
