Perhaps the tide has turned when it comes to overtime for the Avalanche.
Winners of their last two games beyond regulation to “improve” to 3-12 on the season, the Avs enter their final 15-game stretch feeling confident about their chances in OT — not dreading the sudden-death situation like before.
To be sure, with three NHL all-star forwards and silky defensemen like Sam Girard and Tyson Barrie, Colorado should be confident in OT. The Avs are certainly well-equipped to collect two points in the 3-on-3, five-minute period or the shootout, and they proved it last week against Vancouver and Tuesday against Detroit.
