On Thursday evening against the Anaheim Ducks, Colorado Avalanche goaltender Semyon Varlamov made his first appearance since the December 22 debacle against the Toronto Maple Leafs, a game in which Varlamov allowed five goals on 18 shots faced.
Returning from a groin injury for a goaltender is no easy task but Varlamov had a decent bounce-back game, stopping 28 of 31 shots faced against the Anaheim Ducks for a .903 save percentage, just slightly higher than his season average.
“I felt good, but it’s disappointing we lost again,” Varlamov said following the game. “We wanted to start with a ‘W’ after this break, but we lost again.
